How I Left the Right One for Another one

It is true
Being a Christian can be tough
You have your good days
Your bad days
Sometimes you hit  bumps in the road
Sometimes you are FOCUSED
And sometimes you are
NOT!

I recently noticed a pattern in my life that desperately needed to change!

I WAS NOT FOCUSED

Okay wait, I was TOO focused but on the wrong thing..

Before I had a Boyfriend...

I spent time with God like crazy.
I prayed, fasted and worshipped.

Now that I have this great man...

I AM TOO FOCUSED ON ...

Our latest series of arguments have been solely on  my desire for him to spend MORE time with me. Granted he works and goes to school full time and I go to school full time and work part time.. so our time together is VERY LIMITED

I would take time to plan these great intricate surprise dates in the allotted time we would expect to be together and
BOOM
Just like that something would come up. I would be so disappointed and I would be so angry because I desired to be with him.

I later realized that I would plan to spend time with God and if my beau was available I would jet off to be with him. God  desired to be with me and I was letting someone else take His place.

“You shall not make idols for yourselves or

erect an image or pillar, and you shall not set

up a figured stone in your land to bow down

to it, for I am the LORD your God."

Leviticus 26:1

An idol is anything that takes the place of God in your life and it is very clear that my priorities were off balance. If I could personalize this it would say, "DeLisa place no man before me, I know you love him but you belong to Me.  As I pondered on this before going to sleep. I had a very meaningful dream.

I was in a foreign place (I love to travel) and I was in charge of girls and they were complaining and a sister I went on my very first  mission trip came to me to remind me of a flower.

When I went to Guatemala for a Beauty for Ashes Retreat, I met Lauren and on a soccer field she grabbed my hand and prayed with me and she told me how she saw this flower of ministry blooming in my life.

When I woke up, I understood that God had called me to do something and I needed to focus on Him and what He has called me to do.  Yes, I have fallen in love but my boyfriend should NOT be my idol.

“You shall have no

other gods before

me."

Exodus 20:3

It is important that I stay focused on the things God has called me to do. Often too many women get into a relationship and seek to please a man but there is more to life.

To get back in the swing of things, I picked up a new notebook to journal my prayers and have challenged myself to journal my prayers for the month of MARCH! It is important to set time out of your daily schedule to spend with the LORD. I find that journaling helps me get into a groove.

So yes I left the right One for another one but thankfully He forgives  and His Grace is sufficient.
